‘This week I began a new life — shedding my old skin and with it the scars of mediocrity.’ (paraphrasing Og Mandino The Greatest Salesman In The World)
Like every human, I’ve been challenged to grow and overcome certain hurdles throughout my lifetime. I haven’t seen it, but I suspect some of the marks on the cosmic scorecard are marginal. Was it fear, lack of confidence, or plain old resistance? One thing for sure, the hurdles don’t go away because you somehow manage to go around them. They have an uncanny ability to pop up again and again.
Don’t get me wrong — despite a few things I wish I’d have done better, I’ve had a pretty good life and in many ways it’s better than ever. But I have an opportunity to do a lot more with the years I have left, and I want to make something of it.
Uh-oh, is that a hurdle I see up ahead?
Though my opportunity has the potential to create significant wealth, it’s really more about relationships and personal growth. I’m convinced I need to grow and clear some hurdles first, if I’m to get where I’d like to be with my business. Alas, when I cross the finish-line, I intend to surprise myself. And maybe a few others.
So, back to my new life. I’m only a ‘few days old’ and I’ll be honest, if I were on my own in this deal I could be on life support in two weeks — long before my commitment to the next six months is fulfilled. Let me say right now I’m incredibly grateful for the structure and mentorship provided me as a scholarship recipient of the Master Key Experience. If you’re unaware of The Master Key System by Charles Haanel, stick with me on this blog. I’ll wager that next year, you too will be a student.
Day by day I will be working to create a new blueprint for my life through reading, writing and mental exercise. In order to create a different life in reality, I need to know exactly what it is, how it looks, and how it feels. That reality, that picture, and those feelings need to be firmly established in my objective mind. Slowly, but surely, they will seep into my subconscious and inevitably become the reality of my experience. ‘Every thought is a cause and every condition an effect; for this reason it is absolutely essential that you control your thoughts so as to bring forth only desirable conditions.’ (Charles Haanel, The Master Key System)
So for the next six months — and forevermore — ‘I make a solemn oath that nothing will retard my new life’s growth. I will lose not a day, for that day cannot be retrieved nor can I substitute another for it.‘ (Og Mandino The Greatest Salesman In The World)
I keep my promises.
