The hand-coloring adventure had me looking through old files for likely candidates. Beautiful Blondes — Light & Shadow #26 — was perfect.
It so happened there was a processing flaw in the negative. Sadly, this prevented making a print with very much tone in the sky because the flaw would show and could not be retouched. With the hand-coloring technique, I could create those tones myself.
This is one of the last pictures I would color and probably my favorite. It reflects a less heavy-handed use of the technique and emphasizes the magnificent horses.
It hangs on my wall to this day.
